In honour of International Women’s Day, Noble Media Network has partnered with With A Purpose International’s "She Is" Initiative to highlight 8 women who inspire us to have bold faith. The "She Is" Initiative celebrates women who lead with authenticity and confidence as they walk in their purpose.

Daindra Harrison has carved out a space that is uniquely her own. From her early days as a poet to becoming a media personality, TV host, actress, and comedian, she has proven that faith, talent, and persistence can open unimaginable doors.

Daindra’s journey began with the power of words—spoken word poetry was her first love, a medium through which she expressed her thoughts, faith, and experiences. A graduate of the University of the West Indies, she holds a degree in Integrated Marketing Communication, a programme she was divinely led to pursue after receiving a scholarship for winning a poetry competition—quite the God wink moment.

But her purpose didn’t stop there. What started as poetry performances soon expanded into comedic skits, capturing the hearts of Jamaicans and growing a dedicated audience on social media.

Her bold, witty, and relatable content turned her into one of Jamaica’s go-to comedic voices, making people laugh while also reflecting on life and the Jamaican culture. But Daindra didn’t just stop at influencing online; she took her voice offline and onto bigger stages.

Thriving in Media and Entertainment

Daindra’s ability to captivate audiences landed her opportunities as a TV host on Television Jamaica’s show, Gen Zed—”a space for Jamaican youth to share their experiences and thoughts on navigating adulthood responsibly”—where she brought her charisma and humour to the screen. She also expanded her influence into event hosting, becoming a familiar face on stage at major events.

Daindra’s talent has led her to the world of acting, starring in productions such as Pickney Worries at the Little Theatre, and Pitchy Patchy—a theatre play where social media influencers along with stage and film actors join forces for a comical exploration of Jamaican culture, social issues and folklore—proving that her creativity knows no bounds.

In 2024, Daindra added another feather to her cap when she was crowned Miss Kingston & St. Andrew Festival Queen, later going on to place second runner-up in the national Miss Jamaica Festival Queen competition. This achievement was more than just a title—it was a representation of her commitment to her culture, empowerment, and inspiring young women.

A Woman of Purpose

Beyond the scope of the entertainment industry, Daindra uses her platform to speak life into others. She frequently visits schools, and other institutions, sharing messages of encouragement, hope, and self-belief. Her journey is a well-needed display of what happens when you step out in faith, embrace your gifts, and allow God to order your steps.

A Closer Look w/ Daindra Harrison

My relationship with God truly guides the things I say no or yes to. ~ Daindra Harrison

Your journey has been incredible—from poetry to comedy, hosting, and acting. Did you ever imagine you’d be on this path today?

DAINDRA: Yes, I always imagined being where I am today. I never knew exactly how it was going to happen, but I always held on to an idea of who I wanted to become and worked towards it until it manifested itself. Even now, I still don’t believe I am even halfway where I want to be, but I am on my way there and will continue to work and push until I reach my fullest potential.

Many people first knew you as a poet. What made you step into comedy and media?

DAINDRA: My step into media and comedy was very unintentional—it just happened naturally. I was always creating content and sharing it on social media, and I knew I had a voice that fit the media space. As I continued to push my talents, I organically found myself in these fields. So, my journey into comedy and media unfolded without a deliberate plan—it just felt like the right fit.

Faith is a key part of your journey. How has it shaped your career and the decisions you’ve made as a young woman in the media space?

DAINDRA: My relationship with God truly guides the things I say no or yes to. Often times I would be presented with opportunities that go against my faith and it always boils down to whether or not what I’m doing will be pleasing to God. In fact, I am really grateful for my faith because it’s something I always lean on before taking a big step or making a great decision regarding my career.

You’ve experienced a lot of success in the entertainment industry. What has been your proudest moment as well as the biggest lesson you’ve learned along the way?

DAINDRA: My proudest moment in the entertainment industry thus far was when I got the opportunity to become one of the hosts on the Television Jamaica (TVJ) youth centre talk show ‘GenZed.’ This was a pivotal role in my career as it really opened a lot of doors for me and I was able to showcase my talent to a wider audience.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned in the industry thus far is to just avoid the noise and focus on your own path. The entertainment industry is very saturated and people are doing their own thing every day. It’s very important that I try to block out the noise and locate what is truly unique to me.

You’ve been adding to your acting credits as well, recently starring in the hilarious theatre play "Pitchy Patchy". What would you say you love most about acting?

DAINDRA: What I love the most about acting is that I forget everything about the outside world and live in a new reality when I’m on stage. It is almost like an escape. It’s just me playing that character, in that specific world, breathing a special type of air and living in that moment while completely forgetting about everything else.

Winning the Miss Kingston & St. Andrew Festival Queen title and second runner-up for Miss Jamaica Festival Queen are major achievements. What was that experience like and what did it teach you about yourself?

DAINDRA: I’m not gonna lie—my Festival Queen experience was tough. It pushed me far out of my comfort zone, and competitions tend to bring out the worst in some people, which was something I had to navigate on the other end.

Despite the challenges, I walked away a better woman with a deeper understanding and appreciation of Jamaica’s culture, which I hold close to my heart. If there’s one thing the experience taught me, it’s that I really don’t like competitions…

You inspire so many young women to chase their dreams. What advice would you give to someone afraid to step into their purpose?

DAINDRA: My advice is simple—pick your struggle. If you choose not to step into your purpose, you’ll face consequences like regrets, judgment from others, and hardships. And if you do choose to step into your purpose, you’ll still face hardships and judgment from others.

Either way, life will come with challenges, so you might as well walk a path that will be rewarding in the end.

What’s next for Daindra Harrison?

DAINDRA: I will continue to build my brand and work toward securing my place in the media and entertainment industry.
